We have a cellular data plan for sharing 30 GB/month over 20 devices. Is this an adequate amount of data for PubWorks Mobile?2018-01-31T22:40:36+00:00

It will be no problem using Mobile with a 30 GB/mo for 20 devices. Let’s say your “database” is 50mb in size. On the 1st day, all 20 devices would use 1gb (20 devices x 50mb). After that, their use would be almost inconsequential.

Do you have a web-based option?2017-04-13T17:32:25+00:00

PubWorks does not have a “browser-based” option.  However, we do offer the full PubWorks suite in the Cloud with–PubWorks Cloud.  This is the same great PubWorks software suite offered in a Cloud Database.  What this means is that you can access PubWorks from any machine/tablet/phone connected to the internet with a sign-in.  If you still have questions, call our Support line 1-888-920-0380 ext. 2.

What’s the difference between Work Orders and Service Requests?2017-08-10T21:39:04+00:00

The way that PubWorks names our applications is that the Demand Maintenance is handled with our Service Requests module.  Scheduled Maintenance is handled with our Work Orders module.

We have a GIS department and have concerns about data security and data integrity. How will the MapViewer use our data. Will the MapViewer alter our current data?2017-05-11T02:03:32+00:00

The MapViewer offers two data connection modes: Read-only and Data Editing. In the Read-Only mode, data editing is not allowed through the MapViewer. The MapViewer can link to the following ESRI data storage structure (personal geodatabase, file geodatabase, ArcServer (ArcSDE)) without altering the GIS data. The Data Editing mode allows the user to perform simple edits on the GIS data through the MapViewer.

Does the MapViewer require additional licensing?2017-05-11T02:04:20+00:00

The MapViewer was built using ESRI’s ArcEngine platform and can use an existing ESRI Engine or desktop license. If an ESRI license is not available, you can purchase single use or concurrent license from your ESRI representative. Only workstations that will be using the MapViewer will require an ESRI license.

Does the MapViewer offer two way data synchronization? What happens when I add a new PubWorks record or edit my GIS data?2017-05-11T02:05:26+00:00

The MapViewer includes a data synchronization tool which will report data discrepancies. When new GIS features are added, our data synchronization will create new PubWorks records and automatically link to the new GIS features.

We use the PubWorks Service Requests module daily – how can the MapViewer benefit us?2017-04-13T17:17:28+00:00

The MapViewer greatly enhances the Service Requests module and can be used to verify specific locations and addresses. For example, if a caller cannot remember the exact name of a street but gives the intersection or general area, you can use the MapViewer to zoom in to the area and locate the street name or exact address. Once you locate the street in the MapViewer, you can create a new PubWorks Service Request directly from the Map.
You can instantly map Service Requests from the Service Request Log and Service Request Status screens with the click of a button. These maps can be printed or emailed to the appropriate personnel.

What is the PubWorks MapViewer?2017-05-11T02:06:51+00:00

The PubWorks MapViewer is an embedded GIS module available from most PubWorks screens. The MapViewer seamlessly links your PubWorks data to your GIS data to instantly map locations of works crews, create map-based to-do lists and analyze costs. The MapViewer was developed using ESRI technology and can use most ESRI data storage structures (personal geodatabase, file geodatabase, ArcServer (ArcSDE)).

What happens if PubWorks Mobile doesn’t have phone/web connectivity?2017-04-13T17:16:06+00:00

When you are out in the field and you cannot access an internet connection you can Record Work and Add/Modify Service Requests.  When you come back into Cell/WiFi range PubWorks Mobile will sync allowing other devices and PubWorks desktop to see the changes you have made.  This offline mode will be one of the many powerful features we are happy to introduce with PubWorks Mobile.

Would we have to switch to a cloud based version to run PubWorks mobile?2017-04-13T17:14:40+00:00

No. Without going into great detail PubWorks Mobile does utilize components of “Cloud” computing.  A very select set of your data will move through the cloud in order to transfer data between mobile and your Server.  There is no need to completely to the Cloud.

Similar to purchasing any new module from PubWorks we can tailor the installation and implementation to fit your needs.

Does PubWorks mobile have all the features of the desktop version?2017-04-13T17:13:00+00:00

No, PubWorks Mobile is not meant to replace PubWorks.  Instead the Work and Requests apps have been designed as a complement to our Service Requests and Core modules.
